The Loop Australia is a volunteer-based organisation. We have teams of organisers and service delivery volunteers based in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. Our teams work collaboratively towards our mission to deliver a world-class drug checking service and disseminate information about drugs to individuals, service providers and policy makers.

Cameron Francis

Chief Executive Officer

Cameron is an experienced and passionate Social Worker with a 20-year track record in the field of youth alcohol and other drugs. Throughout his career, Cameron has embraced diverse roles, from leading peer education initiatives at music events and festivals, needle and syringe program work, individual counselling along with training and secondary consultation for complex youth alcohol and other drug presentations. With a relentless drive for positive change, Cameron currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of The Loop Australia.

Will Tregoning

Co-Founder & Board Chair

Will's professional experience is in drug and alcohol program evaluation, social policy research, communications and campaigning. He completed a Bachelor of Arts and a PhD in Cultural Studies at the University of Sydney before beginning a career as a research and evaluation consultant to Australian government departments and agencies. He founded Unharm in 2014 to work with communities of activists to promote policy innovation, wellbeing and practices of care. He co-founded The Loop Australia in 2018.

Fiona Measham

Co-Founder & Director

Professor Fiona Measham is Chair in Criminology at the University of Liverpool, has conducted research on drug use, drug policy and nightlife for 3 decades, and has been going to clubs for even longer. Fiona co-founded The Loop as a non profit harm reduction NGO and university action research project in 2013 and led The Loop’s subsequent introduction of event-based drug checking in the UK in 2016 and community-based drug checking in the UK in 2018. She co-founded The Loop Australia in 2018.

Nicole Lee

Director

Professor Nicole Lee, an esteemed international leader in best practice health responses, boasts an impressive 33 years of experience in policy and practice implementation across various domains including alcohol and other drugs, mental health, and community health. Nicole is an Adjunct Professor at the National Drug Research Institute Curtin University, Interim CEO of Hello Sunday Morning, member of the Australian National Council on Alcohol and other Drugs (ANACAD), and the Department of Veterans' Affairs Alcohol and other Drug Adviser. Her counsel is sought after by governments at national and international levels, her profound impact extends to collaborating with renowned organizations such as the World Health Organization and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, shaping public health and clinical policies on a global scale.

Rachel Bowes

Director

Rachel Bowes was appointed Director of Nursing at St John of God Richmond Hospital in February 2022. Rachel is a mental health nurse with over 20 years’ experience, both in the UK and Australian mental health systems across acute inpatient, rehabilitation, alcohol & other drugs, mental health intensive care and community mental health settings. She has held a number of operational and clinical governance leadership roles outside of traditional healthcare environments including with Medibank and Lifeline Australia. Rachel has considerable experience in the delivery and practice of digital mental health care, service co-design with lived experience consumers and building relationships across the Australian mental health and AOD sector.

Genevieve Sinclair

Director

Genevieve Sinclair is a board member of QNADA, the peak organisation for the non-government (NGO) alcohol and other drug (AOD) treatment and harm reduction sector in Queensland and the current CEO of Youth Empowered Towards Independence (YETI). Genevieve has also worked in the community and university research sectors for the past 22 years.

Sophie Paterson

Director

With more than 10 years as an executive in the Australian music industry, Sophie is a proven and awarded digital strategist and communications leader. As Spotify ANZ’s Head of Communications for eight years, she worked as part of the launch team to introduce and grow the music streaming service in Australia & New Zealand, taking out B&T's Women in Media Awards (PR) in 2019. In 2020, Sophie joined Sony Music Entertainment Australia to lead the Audience Development & Digital Communications department, focused on driving audience growth via strategic and creative digital storytelling for Sony’s domestic and international artists.

Joyce Low

Director

Joyce Low FCA is the Chief Financial Officer/Director Governance & Risk at the NSW Public Service Commission.She has held senior finance roles at Housing NSW, ASIC, and the Ministry for Police & Emergency Services. Whilst at Dept of Education, she oversaw the rollout of a SAP finance system to help NSW public schools better manage and understand their budgets
